Music that unites hearts: Yevhen Khmara and the Nadiya Foundation support Ukraine's medical workers and defenders
The Nadiya Youth Initiative Charitable Foundation, together with renowned Ukrainian composer and pianist Yevhen Khmara, ambassador of the foundation, organised a series of charity events aimed at supporting wounded soldiers, medics and families of those killed in action.
Such events provide an opportunity not only to raise funds, but also to support our people. This is a chance to help medics and the wounded, to show that they are not alone,’ said Valery Dubil, chairman of the supervisory board of the Nadiya Foundation and first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Health.
Over the past few weeks, the foundation's team, together with Yevhen Khmara, has held three special events — in Chernihiv, Sumy and Lviv.
The first event took place at the military hospital in Chernihiv. Yevhen Khmara spoke to wounded defenders who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, as well as to the team of medics who save lives every day.
The next event took place in Sumy. The purpose of the charity auction and concert was to raise funds for the restoration of the St. Panteleimon Clinical Hospital, which was damaged by an enemy drone strike, as well as to support the family of the deceased nurse Tetyana Tykhonova, who was killed during the attack. Among the lots were a T-shirt signed by Usyk, a book by Zaluzhny, a ball from Vashchuk, gloves from Berinchik, works by Sumy artists, and items signed by Budanov.
Two more charity fundraisers took place during Yevhen Khmara's ‘Two Worlds’ concerts in Lviv. A special moment was the sale of flags signed by Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate. The funds raised will go to help families who lost loved ones during the recent attacks on the city.
Yevhen Khmara, who has been performing for the military and holding charity events since the first days of the war, emphasises: "Music has the power to heal. It unites, supports and gives hope. It is a great honour for me, together with the Nadiya Foundation team, to help those who save lives every day, defend Ukraine and suffer from cynical attacks on peaceful cities."
The Nadiya Youth Initiative Charitable Foundation systematically supports the military, hospitals and civilians. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the team has carried out more than 350 humanitarian missions, delivering thousands of items of vital equipment, medical supplies, electronic warfare systems, food and communications equipment to the front line.
‘Our common goal is to help those who are defending Ukraine. And we are doing this together — volunteers, artists, doctors, partners. Because everyone can be part of the great cause of saving lives,’ Valery Dubil emphasised.
